Fellow of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery

The ISHRS is dedicated to achieving excellence in patient outcomes by promoting the highest standards of medical practice, medical ethics, and research in the medical hair restoration industry. Dr. Barusco was recently elevated to Fellow of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. This is a distinction that is only given to people who achieve certain landmarks on teaching and leadership and currently less than 10% of the ISHRS members are Fellows.

Dr. Marco Barusco received American Registry’s America’s Most Honored Professionals 2018 award, and was recognized as being in the Top 1% of this distinguished group.

Honorees of this prestigious annual award are carefully selected from American Registry’s comprehensive database of publicly acknowledged professionals. Qualification criteria include repeated, authenticated, publicized honors from the press, peers, trade groups and clients over a five-year period. Cosmetic Surgery Foundation

Chair of the Philanthropic Committee

Chair of the Philanthropic Committee of the CSF, which was created to develop policies and procedures for the CSF to fund corrective surgery to patients who have been victims of accidents, cancer, burns and other events that have left them with scars and who need surgery to improve their lives and self-esteem but cannot afford the procedures. The program will link patients with volunteer cosmetic surgeons so that they may have treatment at no cost.

The CSF supports education and research in cosmetic surgery, aiming to improve patient outcomes and safety in cosmetic surgery. Through donations and fund-raising events, it funds the educational events of the AACS and it provides research grants for projects related to cosmetic surgery.

International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery

It’s the largest international professional association specific for hair restoration surgery, with thousands of members worldwide. It promotes education and research in hair restoration surgery via educational workshops all over the world.

Hair Transplant Forum International (ISHRS)

Official peer-reviewed scientific publication of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS)

Since 2014, Dr. Barusco has had a regular column in the journal entitled “Complications and Difficult Cases,” in which he reviews and discusses special cases done by him or submitted by other doctors.

This large, professional association was formed by physicians and other health professionals who are dedicated to cosmetic surgery. It offers Fellowship Training programs for surgeons who would like to learn and practice high level cosmetic surgery. It also promotes education and training in cosmetic surgery via live surgery workshops, webinars and the Scientific Annual Meeting. As Chair of the CME Committee, Dr. Barusco and his colleagues review, approve and control all educational activities offered by the AACS.

UCF College of Medicine

Dr. Barusco was invited to be a part of the Faculty as Assistant Professor of Surgery in 2014. He teaches students and also acts as a mentor for research projects in the areas of wound healing and surgery.

American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery (AJCS)

Section Editor for Hair Restoration Surgery since 2012

The AJCS is the official scientific publication of the AACS. It is a peer-reviewed journal with original and review articles in Cosmetic Surgery. As Section Editor, Dr. Barusco is responsible for recommending and reviewing articles submitted for publication.

Textbook Chapters

Over the years, Dr. Barusco has been invited to write multiple chapters in the most important reference textbooks in hair transplantation worldwide. Some chapter examples include a description of the Tempus No-Shave FUE procedure and a description of the Tempus Crown-Hatching technique, which is used to improve coverage of the crown area of the scalp.
